Manish Pandey’s performance in the last two matches of the domestic competition was not good. Pandey took only 186 balls to score his 208 runs.
Manish Pandey is playing for Karnataka, while Goa’s team includes Arjun Tendulkar, who has been in limelight since his Ranji debut. Pandey was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2.40 crore in the recent IPL mini auction. Earlier Manish Pandey was a part of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. Pandey played six matches for the franchise, in which he could score only 88 runs at a strike-rate of 110.
He was released by the franchise before the mini auction of IPL 2023. Manish Pandey with a base price of 1 crore was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in the mega auction for 4.60 crores. Manish Pandey’s IPL journey has been with many teams. After starting his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2008, he played his best cricket during his Kolkata Knight Riders days from IPL 2014 to 2017.
Due to his match-winning innings in the final of IPL 2014, Sunrisers Hyderabad spent Rs 11 crore on him in the IPL 2018 auction. However, since then Manish Pandey’s performance in IPL has never been very impressive. Despite this, he became a part of Lucknow in IPL 2022 for only one season.
After a poor performance, the Lucknow Super Giants team, coached by Gautam Gambhir, dropped him within a year. Now Delhi Capitals have bet on Manish Pandey. Pandey has proved his ability by scoring a double century in Ranji, but now it has to be seen whether he can maintain his form during the start of IPL 2023 and during the tournament.
