New Delhi. Fast-rising Indian weightlifter Harshada Garuda won the gold medal in the women’s 45kg category at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent. The 18-year-old Indian weightlifter lifted a total of 157 kg (69 kg and 88 kg) to win the gold medal. He lifted 153 kg (70 kg and 83 kg), four kg more than he lifted during his title win at the Junior World Championships in May.
Soumya Dalvi of India won the bronze medal in the 45 kg youth category. The bronze medalist of the Youth World Championships lifted 145 kg (63 kg and 82 kg).

In the men’s 49 kg youth category, L Dhanush won a bronze medal in the snatch category by lifting a weight of 85 kg. However, he finished fourth in the total lift lifting 185 kg (85 kg and 100 kg). In the continental and world championships, separate medals are given for snatch, clean and jerk and for all India, but in Olympics only one medal is given for total weight.
