Pulls out of BWF World Tour Finals due to injury

New Delhi. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has pulled out of the BWF World Tour Finals, the last badminton event of the season, as she is yet to fully recover from a left ankle injury. Sindhu, the 2018 champion in this competition, was injured during the Commonwealth Games in August. The BWF World Tour Finals will be played in Guangzhou, China from 14 December.

Sindhu’s father PV Ramanna told PTI, “Her doctor has asked her to rest for a few more days so that she is fully fit before the new season. He considered all aspects. There are many restrictions in Guangzhou and he took this decision keeping in mind the new season.

He said, “She started training two weeks ago and by January she will be fully fit. Keeping all these things in mind, he sent a letter to the Badminton Association of India and informed about his decision.” Sindhu’s withdrawal means that only HS Prannoy will represent India in this prestigious tournament.
