Nita Ambani praised the new draft constitution of IOA, said- athletes and women will get more rights

Mumbai. Welcoming the newly amended draft constitution of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and Reliance Foundation founder-chairperson Nita Ambani termed it as a historic moment in India’s Olympic dream. Some significant changes have been made in the final draft of the revised constitution of the IOA, prepared by retired judge Justice L Nageswara Rao, which is likely to be formally adopted at the general body meeting to be held on November 10.

Appreciating the greater representation of athletes and women in the newly revised IOA draft constitution, IOC member Nita Ambani said, “I congratulate Justice Nageswara Rao for this historic moment in India’s Olympic campaign, as we look towards a more inclusive and Heading towards a promising future. I am extremely optimistic about the steps taken in the revised draft constitution of the IOA, prepared in consultation with my colleagues at the IOC, especially towards greater representation of athletes and women in Indian sports administration.

2023 is an important year for India’s Olympic campaign, as India is set to host the IOC session in Mumbai for the first time in 40 years. Further commenting on the new draft of the constitutional amendment, Nita Ambani said, ‘I firmly believe that it will pave the way for unleashing India’s true potential in sports. I look forward to working closely with the newly elected members of the IOA to fulfill India’s Olympic ambitions, beginning with India House’s successful hosting of the 2023 IOC Session in Mumbai and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
