New Delhi: Rituraj Gaikwad of Maharashtra is in a lot of discussion these days. In fact, he hit seven sixes in one over in the quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has also become the first batsman to hit 7 sixes in an over in List ‘A’ cricket. Before Rituraj Gaikwad, India’s Yuvraj Singh had done the feat of hitting England’s dangerous bowler Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in T20 International. Rituraj has told that after the fifth six, he started remembering Yuvraj Singh.

After this brilliant inning, Gaikwad told BCCI TV, “To be honest, after the fifth six, the name of only one person was coming in my mind and that was Yuvraj Singh. When I was a kid during the 2007 T20 World Cup, I saw him hitting six sixes in an over. I never even dreamed that I would hit six consecutive sixes in an over.

He further said, “When I hit the sixth six, I thought why not go for the seventh. Although it was not just about hitting sixes. I just had to make that over big. I had to score more runs for the team and thankfully it was done.

Please tell that Gaikwad achieved this feat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Gaikwad had earlier made headlines in the 2021 IPL. He scored 635 runs for Chennai Super Kings during IPL 2021.
