Indian women’s hockey team head coach Yaneke Schoppmann said her team is aiming to qualify for the next season of the Pro League through the upcoming FIH Nations Cup, which will help her team qualify for next year’s Asian Games and 2024 Olympics. There will be a chance to prepare well for the games.

33 members of the core group of the Indian women’s hockey team assembled at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Center to participate in the four-week long national camp. After the National Games, these players were given rest for two weeks. The Indian team will prepare keeping in mind the Women’s Nations Cup to be held in Valencia, Spain from December 10 to 17.

Shopman said, ‘The next four weeks will be very important for us and we need to improve in all departments. Because in FIH Nations Cup we will face top teams. It will definitely be a tough competition as all the teams will be aiming to win the tournament and qualify for the FIH Hockey Pro League.

He said that it is important for us to make a place in the Pro League because before the Asian Games and Paris Olympics, we will get a chance to play with the top teams in this competition. In the FIH Nations Cup, India is placed in Pool B along with Canada, Japan and South Africa while Ireland, Italy, Korea and Spain are in Pool A.
