Due to heavy rains in Ahmedabad, the final match could not be played on the scheduled day i.e. 28 May. And it has to be shifted to Reserve Day (May 29). For Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans, this match will be an opportunity to avenge the defeat against CSK in Qualifier-1. In the Qualifier-1 held on 23 May, GT had to face defeat by 15 runs. However, after this, the team reached the final by winning the Qualifier-2 match against Mumbai Indians.

The final match will be important for both the teams adorned with star players. If Hardik Pandya’s team GT wins, it will achieve the feat of becoming IPL champion for the second time in a row, while Chennai’s ‘Kings’ will have a chance to match Mumbai Indians’ achievement of becoming IPL champions for 5 times. Dhoni’s team (MS Dhoni) has become champion in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.

The previous record of both the teams is in favor of Gujarat Titans. GT, which entered the IPL last season itself, has so far won three times from CSK in four matches. Gujarat Titans defeated CSK in both their matches last season. In this season, both the teams have won one match each against each other.

On the other hand, talking about Mahi’s team, it has faced one-run defeat twice in the final. Both the times he has been defeated by Hardik Pandya’s team (former team Mumbai Indians). Dhoni’s team has lost by one run in the final of IPL in 2017 and 2019. It is different that once (in 2017) Dhoni was a member of Rising Pune Super Giants while in 2019 as a member and captain of Chennai Super Kings. Due to allegations related to spot-fixing and betting, CSK was banned from IPL for 2016 and 2017. Was banned and during this time Dhoni played for Rising Pune Super Giants.
