macOS Sonoma and iPadOS 17 introduced in WWDC 2023, know what will be special and how are the changes

The new iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma updates have been introduced at WWDC 2023. Apple has announced its latest software for iPad and iMac with iOS 17. Along with increasing productivity, iPadOS 17 has also brought new features for Health, Creativity and Multitasking. Users will also be able to personalize the lock screen on the Apple iPad. Along with this, it also includes interactive widgets, new Notes app. MacOS Sonoma is also getting support for widgets on the home screen.

Features of iPadOS 17

For the first time in iPadOS, customized lock screen support is available. This feature works in the same way as iPhone users customize their iOS 16 lock screen. Users can personalize their iPad’s lock screen, setting custom wallpapers, adjusting fonts and setting focus modes.

Another feature is Live Activities that is now coming to iPad with iPadOS 17. Apart from this, support for interactive widgets is also being included in Apple iPadOS 17. Users will be able to turn on lights, play music or mark.

A new PDF experience is also available in the Notes app. iPadOS 17 will allow users to quickly include information such as names, addresses, and emails from contacts in PDFs. apple said in its blog post that “in iPadOS 17, PDFs are displayed full width, making it easy to flip through a page, make a quick comment or sketch directly in documents with the Apple Pencil.” Users can now review and mark up PDFs and scanned documents in their notes, while updates appear in real time with live support when users are sharing a note with others.”

Apple has also included support for the Health app in iPadOS 17. Users will be able to check their health data even without a phone, as the data from the iPhone’s Health app is already stored on iCloud. The Health app for iPad is designed and optimized for the large display.

Improvements have been made to the Stage Manager, which will allow more flexibility in the size and position of the window. The Freeform app will offer new drawing tools, support for hover, tilt, and snap to shape. It will also have the facility to add connection lines and new shapes to any object.

iPadOS 17 will be available to developers starting today and will be released to eligible iPad users later this year.

Features of macOS Sonoma

The new macOS Sonoma update adds support for screensavers. These screensavers will support slow-motion videos of locations around the world. It will also allow users to include interactive widgets on the desktop screen. It will blend well with the wallpaper when users are working in the app. The feature also allows users to use Apple’s Continuity feature, which will allow users to use iPhone widgets in Mac OS.

Apple has also added a new Game Mode to macOS for the first time. The game mode is claimed to deliver an optimized gaming experience as well as offer better frame rates. To give a good gaming experience, it will make sure that the CPU and GPU are giving priority to it while playing the game. It is claimed that Game Mode will be compatible with all the existing and upcoming games on Mac.

Apple has introduced enhanced video conferencing features for those who hold virtual meetings. With these features, the company claims that users will be able to present and share their work better with any video conferencing app. There is a new presenter overlay video effect that appears on top of the content being shared to the user. Along with this, Safari, Siri, Messages, Reminders etc. have also received updates. Apple has confirmed that macOS Sonoma will be available to developers starting today and to eligible devices later this year.
