Will India and Pakistan clash in Ahmedabad? PCB chief shrugged off, put the ball in the government’s court

New Delhi. The 13th edition of the ICC ODI World Cup (2023 ODI World Cup) will be held in India this year. There is doubt whether the Pakistan team will participate in this tournament or not. India refused to go to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup. Now Pakistan is also shouting that its cricket team will not tour India for the World Cup. When Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Najam Sethi was asked about this, he put the ball in the government’s court.

PCB chairman Najam Sethi has cast doubts over his team’s participation in the ODI World Cup in India, saying it is “subject to government approval”. With this attitude of Sethi, it will be difficult for the International Cricket Council (ICC) to finalize the World Cup schedule.

Jai Shah agreed on hybrid model
Sethi’s comment comes as a surprise as all stakeholders, including Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Jay Shah, have agreed to the ‘hybrid model’ of the Asia Cup as proposed by the PCB chief. Sethi said during a press conference, ‘As far as India and Pakistan are concerned, neither PCB nor BCCI can take a decision. Only the concerned governments can take a decision in this.

‘Our government will decide in this matter’
According to Sethi, ‘Our government has to decide in this matter, like when it comes to India, it is their government that decides where they will play. There is no point in asking us whether we will play in Ahmedabad or not. When the time comes, it will be decided whether we are going or not, then the government will decide where we can play. Our decision will rest on these two important conditions.
