‘Sachin has been kind to me…’ The Pakistani who made Tendulkar sleepless, why did he say this in praise?

But, there was also a bowler who had given Sachin sleepless nights. Sachin himself had accepted it many times. This bowler was Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. Sachin was neither afraid of Wasim Akram, nor Waqar Younis or Shane Warne as much as he felt uncomfortable playing Razzaq. Sachin had always considered Razzaq as a dangerous bowler. Razzaq was also successful in getting Sachin out easily in Tests and ODIs many times. Now the former Pakistan all-rounder himself has revealed in an interview how he used to get Sachin out and what he thinks about praising Sachin.

Abdul Razzaq had recently said about dismissing Sachin in the podcast of Pakistan’s YouTuber Nadir Ali, “There is no doubt that Sachin Tendulkar was a world class batsman. He was an amazing batsman. His fan following was huge. But why did he praise me, he had no need to do so. He could have taken anyone’s name. During that time there were fast bowlers like Glenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Waqar Yunus. There were big names. Sachin did not even need to take my name. It is his greatness and greatness that he said this in my praise. I believe that if you remain the same on the outside as you are on the inside, then you can be recognized as a true human being. Sachin also has the same quality.”

The former Pakistan all-rounder further said, “Sachin is exactly like that. He has done such things for me, it is his kindness. I have said this earlier also. He has done me a kind of favor by saying such a thing for me, apart from this, Sehwag has said many times that he too used to find it difficult to play me.

‘Sachin was a one man army’
He also shared an interesting anecdote about getting Sachin out in Nadir Ali’s podcast. Razzaq narrated the story related to the 2006 Karachi Test. Razzaq said, “Sachin Tendulkar was a one man army. Whenever there used to be an India-Pakistan match, our focus was only on getting Sachin out.

‘Don’t know how I used to get out’
Recalling the Karachi Test match, Razzaq said, “I remember when Sachin, Mohammad Sami and Asif had finished their respective spells for batting and there were 2 overs left for the end of the day’s play. Younis Khan was the captain. He gestured me to bowl. At that time I was thinking that what did the captain do, why did he give me the bowling. Because then it used to take me 2-3 overs to catch the rhythm and only 2 overs were left in the day’s game. Well, I handled the ball, Tendulkar was in front. Believe me, I threw 3-4 balls to Sachin and he got bowled on one ball. I didn’t even try to get him out. But, do not know how he got out.
