New Delhi. The Indian football team won the Intercontinental Cup title by defeating Lebanon 2-0 in the final. After this historic victory, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a cash prize of 1 crore to the football team. Captain Sunil Chhetri and Lallianzuala Chhangte scored goals in the final for India. However, the Indian football team has decided to give Rs 20 lakh out of this prize money to the victims of the Balasore train accident.

The Intercontinental Cup was organized in Odisha. In the closing ceremony after the final, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “It is a matter of great pride for our state to host this prestigious Intercontinental Cup. Congratulations on India’s win in a tough match. We intend to organize many more such football tournaments in Odisha in the future. We will continue to support the development of sports in Odisha and India.”
