New Delhi. Javed Miandad, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has again spewed venom against India. Miandad says that if the Pakistan team does not tour India in the upcoming ODI World Cup (2023 ODI World Cup), then it will not do any harm to it. Miandad does not want the Pakistan team to go to India to play in the World Cup. They say that now it is India’s turn to come to Pakistan. The former Pakistan coach says that his team should not tour India until the BCCI agrees to send its team to Pakistan.

According to the draft schedule of the ODI World Cup prepared by the International Cricket Council, Pakistan is scheduled to take on India in the much-awaited match on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 66-year-old Miandad believes that now it is India’s turn to tour Pakistan. Miandad said, ‘Pakistan went to India in 2012 and even in 2016 and now it is the turn of Indians to come here. If I had to decide, I would never go to India to play any match, not even the World Cup. We are always ready to play with them (India) but they never respond like this.

‘It doesn’t matter to us’
India last toured Pakistan in 2008 for the 50-over Asia Cup. Since then, bilateral cricket relations have been suspended due to political tensions between the two countries. As Miandad said, ‘Pakistan’s cricket is big… We are still preparing quality players. So I don’t think it makes any difference to us if we don’t go to India. I have always said that one cannot choose one’s neighbor so it is better to co-operate with each other. I have always said that cricket is a game that brings people closer and can remove misunderstandings and grievances between countries.

India will play all its matches in Sri Lanka
Miandad’s reaction came at a time when Pakistan is being forced to host the upcoming Asia Cup under a ‘hybrid model’ in which India will play all its matches in Sri Lanka. Miandad, who has been a vocal critic of India, is not happy with this decision. He said, ‘It was believed that they will not send their team to Pakistan for Asia Cup even once, so now the time has come that we also take a tough stand.’ The BCCI had already refused to send its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. After this, the hybrid model was resorted to, after which it was decided that the Pakistan team would play the group match at home, while its match against India would be in Sri Lanka.
