new Delhi: Team India has been performing consistently well for some time now. For the 2022 T20 World Cup, the team management does not want to leave any stone unturned, so all the players are constantly being given a chance. Under the captaincy of Hitman, the Indian team did a clean sweep against New Zealand in T20, followed by West Indies and then Sri Lanka. In these matches, the young players took the opportunity with both hands and gave a strong performance. One such player was fast bowling all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. But former Indian player Aakash Chopra believes that there is one player who saw Iyer out of the race for the T20 World Cup.
Venkatesh Iyer is threatened by this player
Since the last T20 World Cup 2021, fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya is running out of Team India. He was shown the way out of the team for not being able to bowl. Venkatesh Iyer got the benefit of this and he has been continuously becoming a part of the team. Iyer won everyone’s heart with batting but he could not show his color in bowling yet. Iyer has presented himself as a contender for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. But if Aakash Chopra is to be believed, it will be difficult for Iyer to make it to the World Cup.
Hardik bowling heavy on Iyer
Talking about both the players on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “Venkatesh Iyer is present in the team but the day Hardik starts bowling, Iyer will be out of the race.” It is also worth remembering that this is not a bilateral series where you can take 18-20 players at a time as per your convenience. This is an ICC event where you can only select a 15-man squad.
Akash likes these two all-rounders
The selectors can name only the last 15 players for the T20 World Cup, so Akash feels that 2 all-rounders will be included in the team. To which Aakash Chopra said, ‘When you have only 15 places, you cannot take everything with you. So, you will have only two options for the all-rounder’s position and for me they will be Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya. If Pandya is not fit, Venkatesh Iyer may have a chance.
