Aakash Chopra, the former Test opener of the Indian team and current cricket commentator, has made a big claim about the Indian Premier League (IPL). Aakash Chopra believes that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will never be able to stand in front of the IPL. There are many reasons behind this, not one or two. Chopra has also said that even though Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Rameez Raja has talked about bringing auction mode in PSL, PSL will still not be able to compete with IPL.
Actually, recently, PCB chairman and former Pakistani cricketer Rameez Raja had said that if we bring auction mode in PSL, then foreign cricketers will keep distance from IPL. In response to this, Aakash Chopra said that cricketers leave their country’s cricket for IPL, how will they move to PSL. Aakash Chopra also said in gestures that where is Raj Bhoj, where is Gangu Teli … it means that in comparison, IPL is in the sky and PSL is in Hades.
Aakash Chopra said, “IPL is big not because players get more money in it, but because it is a brand. From the team to the reputation of the players, from broadcasting rights to hosting, everything is in the world. All are ahead of the league. The reason behind this is 100 crore people. There are 135 crore people in India, out of which at least 100 crore people like cricket. That is why everything from its rights to everything is expensive ”
He also said, “In IPL, there are players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav, who are brands in themselves. Let’s say we send them to play in PSL or BBL. Even then the broadcasting company will not be ready to pay that much money, because the brand value of that league is not that much. For the next few seasons of IPL, Star or any other company will deal with 50 thousand crore rupees. Don’t think the entire brand value of a T20 league will be that much.”
