Abid Ali recovers from heart disease, says- ‘I thought my career was over’


New Delhi. Pakistan cricketer Abid Ali has represented the country in 22 international matches in the limited number of opportunities he has got so far. He made his international debut in March 2019 at the age of 31. There was a turning point in the life of Abid Ali, who belonged to Lahore, when his cricket career was almost ended due to heart disease. Ali himself admitted that he thought his career was over. In December last year, during a match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he came to know about a serious heart condition. However, now he has recovered from this disease. For which he has thanked PCB and its doctors.

Talking to Cricket Pakistan, Abid Ali said, ‘I never imagined that this would happen to me. My last 5-6 months have been very difficult. But now I am back to normal routine. The situation I was in, I never expected to be in such a situation. I would like to thank PCB and all those people especially Rameez Raj and NCA doctors who supported me.

The right-handed batsman of the Pakistan team further said, ‘I had never imagined that such an incident could happen to me. When I faced this terrible disease, I felt that my career was over. The 34-year-old batsman further added, “He will remain positive in life and pray for a healthier and better life.”

Abid Ali was playing a match under the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in December last year. During this he complained of chest pain. After this he was hurriedly taken to the hospital. Where he was diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome. After which he was successful angioplasty. Overall, Abid Ali has now returned to normal life. During this, he did not reveal when he would return to the field.
