Big feat of Afghanistan bowler
Created history by taking a wicket on the first ball of Test debut
New Delhi. The only Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan has started in Mirpur from Wednesday. In this test, Afghanistan won the toss and chose bowling. Rashid Khan has been rested. In this test, two players Karim Jannat and Nijat Masood made their debut for Afghanistan and Nijat created history by taking a wicket on the first ball of his very first test. He has become the first player from Afghanistan to do so and his position is 22nd in the overall list.
24-year-old fast bowler Nijat Masood dismissed Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan on the very first ball of his Test career. Nijat’s ball took the edge of Zakir’s bat and got into the gloves of the wicketkeeper. After this the fielders of Nizat and Afghanistan appealed for the catch. But, the umpire did not dismiss Zakir. After this Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi took the review. TV replays showed that the ball took the edge of the bat and went to the wicketkeeper. After this the field umpire had to change the decision and Zakir’s innings came to an end. He was able to score 1 run.
Nijat took the wicket on the first ball of his Test career
Nijat Masood is the 22nd bowler to take a wicket on the first ball of his Test career. TP Horan is the first bowler in the world to do this feat. He did this in the Sydney Test in 1882-83. A bowler from India has also done this. The name of this bowler is Nilesh Kulkarni. Nilesh made his debut in the Colombo Test in 1997 and dismissed Sri Lankan batsman Marvan Atapattu on his first ball.
The last time in 2016, South African fast bowler Hardus Willoen dismissed Alastair Cook on the first ball of his Test debut against England. After 7 years, now Nijat has done this feat in the test. Nijat Masood made his T20 debut for Afghanistan only last year. He has taken 4 wickets in 3 matches.
