Afghanistan defeated hosts Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan, 1st ODI) by 60 runs in the first match of the three-match ODI series at Harare Sports Club. With this win, Afghanistan have taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 276 for 5 wickets and then bundled out Zimbabwe for 216 runs. Rahmat Shah contributed 94 and captain Hasmatullah Shahidi contributed 88 runs for Afghanistan. In the bowling, Mohammad Nabi took 4 wickets for only 34 runs in 10 overs.
Rahmat Shah misses out on century
Opting to bat after losing the toss, Afghanistan started off well. The team lost the wickets of both the openers on the score of 38 runs. Rahmatullah Gurbaz was dismissed for 17 and Ibrahim Zadran scored 5. However, after this Rahmat Shah and captain Hasmatullah Shahidi took over the team. Both shared a huge partnership of 181 runs for the third wicket. Rahmat scored 94 runs in 120 balls with 7 fours and three sixes. While Shahidi scored 88 runs in 104 balls. He hit 13 fours.

Rashid Khan continued his IPL 2022 performance in ODIs as well. He played an unbeaten innings of 39 runs in just 17 balls with the help of 4 fours and two sixes. During this his strike rate was 229. In response to this, apart from Sikandar Raza, no other batsman could play from Zimbabwe. Raza scored 67 runs off 78 balls. Apart from off-spinner Mohammad Nabi’s 4 wickets, leg-spinners Rashid Khan and Fazlhaq Farooqui also got 2 wickets each.

Afghanistan surpasses India in the points table of World Cup Super League
