India beat hosts by 3 wickets in Mirpur Test
new Delhi. Indian cricket team captain KL Rahul breathed a sigh of relief after the memorable victory in the Mirpur Test. Under the leadership of Rahul, Team India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the 2-match Test series on its own land. The second Test match played in Mirpur was very exciting. At one stage, chasing the target of 145 runs, India were 74 for 7. After this, R Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer got the team out of trouble. After the victory, KL Rahul said that
Despite losing 7 wickets, he had full faith in his batsmen.
India started playing ahead of 45 runs for 4 wickets on the fourth day of the Mirpur Test but lost 3 wickets early, due to which the score became 74 runs for 7 wickets. Shreyas Iyer (29 not out off 46 balls) and Ravichandran Ashwin (42 not out off 66 balls) shared a 71-run partnership from here and took India to the target before lunch on the fourth day.
‘We had faith in him but were also nervous’
Rahul said after the match, ‘You have to show confidence in your batsmen at the crease. We had faith in him but were also nervous. After all we are humans too. But we had full faith in our batsmen. According to KL Rahul, ‘Today Ashwin and Shreyas played their roles well. He gave victory to India by performing well. At no point were we going to assume that victory would be easy. We knew that we would have to work hard to score runs.
‘We lost more wickets than expected’
Rahul said, ‘It would have been more difficult to score runs with the new ball. We lost more wickets than expected. We made mistakes but we will learn from it and hopefully in future we will do better in such situations. Rahul, who is leading the team in place of Rohit Sharma, also praised his bowlers. The series win shows how we have prepared our fast bowlers. Ashwin and Akshar Patel also performed well. Umesh (Yadav) performed his responsibility well. Jaydev Unadkat came back after a long time but he bowled brilliantly and he deserved to take more wickets. But Ashwin and Akshar took advantage of the pressure they created.
This was India’s last international match of the year. After this, Team India will now start the series against Sri Lanka in the new year i.e. 2023.
