Out-of-favour batsman Ajinkya Rahane has given an update on his hamstring injury, saying that he will recover from it in the next six to eight weeks. Rahane suffered a leg muscle injury while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2022. After that he was ruled out of the entire tournament. He scored just 133 runs in seven matches for KKR in IPL 2022. Rahane was also not included in the squad for the fifth and final Test against England due to injury. He said that it (injury) was unfortunate. But his rehabilitation is going well and he is recovering well.
Rahane told news agency PTI, ‘I stayed in NCA for about 10 days and I am going there again for rehabilitation and recovery from injury. Right now all my focus is on getting better. Get fit and get on the field as soon as possible. I don’t know when I will be fully fit, expect it to take 6-8 weeks, but at the moment I am focusing on one day at a time, one week at a time.’
Melbourne’s century career best
Rahane, who scored a match-winning 112 in Melbourne during India’s historic Test series win on Australia’s 2020-21 tour of Australia, termed it a “special” innings. “Obviously that century (in Melbourne) was very special and I think it’s one of the best centuries I’ve had overseas and in Test cricket. What happened in Adelaide, the whole team was reduced to 36 runs, lost the test match and then it was more special to go to Melbourne with a different mindset and score a century there and win the test. My century was special because we won the Test match there and got the momentum.
