Avani Lekhara: Tokyo Paralympic champion Avani Lekhara on Tuesday won a gold medal with a world record of 250.6 in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event of the Para Shooting World Cup in Chateiro, France. 20-year-old Avani broke her own world record of 249.6 to qualify for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

The Indian shooter broke the previous record (249.6) in the Chatiyaro 2022 World Cup with a score of 250.6. Avani won the gold medal in the 10m air rifle standings event in the SH1 category at the Tokyo Paralympics in August last year. She also won a bronze medal in the women’s 50m Rifle Three Position SH1 event and became the first Indian woman to win more than one medal at the Paralympics.
