Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has confirmed where the Asia Cup 2022 will be held. Sourav Ganguly has put an end to all the speculations, in which India is also being told as the host. Ganguly has told that the Asia Cup will now be organized in the United Arab Emirates i.e. UAE. The BCCI boss has also given the reason for this.
Briefing the media after the Apex Council meeting of BCCI on Thursday, July 21, he said that the Asia Cup 2022 to be held in T20 format will also be held in UAE for the reason that there will be no rain in August-September. “The Asia Cup will be held in the UAE because this is the only place this season where it will not rain,” he said.
Asia Cup 2022 is to start from 27th August. However, this tournament will be played in the hosting of Sri Lanka Cricket Board only. In the midst of the ongoing economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Cricket itself had spoken of not organizing this tournament here. Keeping in mind the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in Australia, the decision has been taken to play the tournament in this format.
