New Delhi. The complicated issue regarding the venue of the Asia Cup 2023 has not been resolved yet that the Pakistan Cricket Board has come forward with its new request. PCB now wants written assurance from BCCI Secretary Jai Shah. He says that until Shah does not assure him in writing that Team India will come to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan team will also not go to India to play the World Cup 2023.

There is a tussle between BCCI and PCB for organizing the Asia Cup 2023. BCCI is not ready to send the Indian team to Pakistan. At the same time, the Pakistan Cricket Board is also adamant on conducting this tournament in its own country. BCCI wants that this tournament should be organized in a neutral country. As per the already fixed schedule, the Asia Cup is to be held in the month of September. Nepal’s team has recently qualified for the Asia Cup for the first time.

According to a reliable PTI source, PCB chief Najam Sethi is scheduled to leave for Dubai on May 8, where he will hold a meeting with ACC and ICC officials. A PCB source said that during his visit to Dubai, Sethi is also expected to start lobbying to garner support for Pakistan’s “principled position”. According to him, Pakistan will not play its World Cup matches in India until the BCCI and ICC give written guarantees regarding India’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The source said, “Sethi recently met some government officials and also took their advice whether Pakistan should play in the Asia Cup against his stand. Pakistan wants the Asia Cup to be held in Lahore and Dubai (hybrid model).
