AUS vs SL: Sri Lanka squad announced for ODI series against Australia, return of Bhanuka Rajapaksa


New Delhi. Sri Lanka has announced a 21-man squad for the five-match ODI series against Australia. In this 21-man Sri Lankan team, 30-year-old player Bhanuka Rajapaksa has returned. In January this year, he surprised everyone by announcing his retirement. But a week later, he withdrew his retirement decision. Due to fitness issues, he was not included in the Sri Lankan team for the tour of India. The five-match ODI series between Australia and Sri Lanka will start from next week.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa was included in Sri Lanka’s squad for the T20 series against Australia. He was part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2022. In the 15th season, he performed well for Punjab. In view of Rajapaksa’s impressive performance in the IPL, he was given a place in Sri Lanka’s T20 team. Apart from him, left-arm uncapped spinner Dunith Velalez has been included in Sri Lanka’s 21-man ODI team.

Series will start from June 14

The first match of the five-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Australia will be played in Kandy on June 14. On June 16, the second match of the ODI series will also be held in Kandy. After this, on June 19, the third match will be held in Colombo. The fourth and final ODI match on June 21 and June 24 will also be played in Colombo.

Jhye Richardson replaces Starc

Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the ODI series. His finger was injured in the first T20 match played against Sri Lanka. Due to which he was also out of the T20 series. He will be fit before the Test series. Jhye Richardson has been included in Australia’s squad in place of Mitchell Starc for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
