New Delhi: At this time, the eyes of cricket fans around the world are on the T20 World Cup being played in UAE and Oman. Teams from all over the world are looking forward to lift the trophy of this tournament. But in the meantime, another thing has caught the attention of cricket lovers. Actually a veteran bowler has suddenly decided to say goodbye to cricket.

This bowler said goodbye to cricket

Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has retired from international cricket. He believes that he is not in the era of making a place in the Ashes team. Pattinson made his domestic debut this year with the hope that after a good performance, he would make it to the Ashes team. However, due to Corona, there was a lockdown in Victoria and New South Welsh, domestic cricket was halted and their preparations were affected.

Decision taken before Ashes tour

Apart from this, he has also suffered injury, due to which he was forced to take this decision. However, he will continue to play domestic cricket. He also indicated to play county cricket. He said, ‘I started the season thinking that I will compete for a place in the Ashes team, but now it seems that my preparations are incomplete. Even if I get selected, I will not be able to do justice to my selection with this preparation. You have to be 100 per cent fit for that, which I am not feeling right now.

He further said, ‘That’s why I have decided to play domestic cricket for Victoria instead of playing at the highest level, so that I can help the young fast bowlers of the state in my remaining three-four cricket career. Apart from this, I will play cricket in England and spend time with family.

No match played after 2020

Pattinson has not played any Test match since the Test match against New Zealand in January 2020. He was suffering from a fracture in the ribs during the series against India last and earlier this year. He believed that this is the right time to step away from international cricket.

Pattinson said, ‘I thank Cricket Australia for putting their trust in me and giving them the opportunity to play at the international level. Apart from this, I thank all my fellow cricketers, who supported me in this beautiful journey. Especially, when I was injured, CA and fellow players gave me encouragement and kept my faith. I am grateful to him for this.
