The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced an 18-man squad for Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand. Shakib Ali Hasan has been included in the squad. Earlier there was uncertainty about his playing. Earlier it was revealed that he has applied for leave. BCB president Nazmul Hassan confirmed the report that he had heard about Shakib not being available. But he revealed that the all-rounder is yet to make an official application. Najmul said a decision would be taken on Shakib’s application.
Bangladesh have dropped Saif Hasan, Rezaul Islam Raza and Naeem Hasan from the team. Shorful Islam is the only new player to join the team. Bangladesh will leave on December 9 for the two-Test series. The series will be part of the 2021-2023 cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. The two-Test series being played with Pakistan will end on December 8. Pakistan is currently leading 1-0 in the series. Bangladesh will play the first Test match at Bay Oval from January 1 to 5. Whereas the second Test match will start from January 9 in Christchurch.
