BAW Yuanbao electric car launched with 170km mileage cheaper than Alto, powerful features with saving money


Chinese automaker Beijing Auto Works (BAW) has launched its Yuanbao electric mini car with a range of up to 170km in China. Yuanbao is a 3 door electric mini which is Hongguang Mini EV. 4 models of Yuanbao are available depending on the range up to 120km and 170km. The price of Yuanbao ranges from Rs 33,900 (Rs 4,00,186) to Rs 49,900 (Rs 5,88,847).

The Yuanbao has been launched to coincide with BAW’s 71st anniversary and the Mini has been targeted at women. It has 4 seats, 3 doors and female centric design. BAW has been developed as a separate unit from its parent company BAIC. All its products now have the BAW moniker as part of their name. The BAW Yuanbao is equipped with a square body shape, solid rectangular headlights and a closed grille front design. The BAW Yuanbao rides on 155/65 R13 tires with steel rims and wheel covers in the design.

BAW Yuanbao is based on Chinese culture. Yuanbao originated in China during the imperial era as gold and silver currency in use. It is a symbol of wealth and wishes for good fortune for the users of BAW Yuanbao. BAW has not yet announced a release date for Yuanbao. A 4-door version of the Yuanbao is also reportedly being developed. The BAW Yuanbao is powered by a 200kW rear-wheel-drive motor. Talking about top speed, it can run at a top speed of 100 kmph. Two battery pack options have been given for Yuanbao which are 9.6kWh and 13.6kWh.

Yuanbao features a surround camera system that shows a 360-degree view at any point in time. The car gets radar at the front and rear, an electronic braking system and an assist function for difficult angular sections. There are disc brakes at the front while drum brakes have been used at the rear.
