New Delhi. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will take a final call on Shakib Al Hasan’s participation in the IPL final after the second qualifier between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. Shakib Al Hasan is the star all-rounder of Kolkata. Shakib has contributed significantly in the last three victories of Kolkata. Shakib has already missed the warm-up match against Sri Lanka due to his participation in the IPL and will also not be available for the second warm-up match against Ireland on October 14.
If Kolkata’s team reaches the final, then the Bangladesh Cricket Board will take the final decision on Shakib’s play. Bangladesh will begin their qualifying campaign against Scotland on 17 October after playing two warm-up matches. If Shakib is allowed to play in the final, the all-rounder will have to fly from Dubai to Muscat as soon as the IPL is over. In such a situation, the team management can give rest to Shakib in view of his busy schedule.
“We will take a final call on Shakib’s return to the dressing room before the T20 World Cup after the second IPL qualifiers,” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz on Tuesday. “We have to keep a lot of things in mind that if his team goes to the final, then how much time is being given to them to rest,” he said. Bangladesh, who are seeking a place in the Super 12 stage of the tournament, will also take on Oman and Papua New Guinea in the other two matches of the qualifiers on October 19 and 21 respectively.
