The final match of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played on 29 May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the 67th match of the 15th season of the league, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Gujarat Titans by eight wickets on Thursday to enter the top-4. Bangalore has 16 points in 14 matches. With this, the teams of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are out of the tournament. Because they have 12 points now, although both the teams have 1-1 matches left. But even after winning this match, they will have only 14 points. Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are already out of the race for the playoffs.
The BCCI has now taken a big step regarding the timing of the IPL 2022 final match. Due to the closing ceremony, the timing of the final match has been changed. The final match will now start at 8 pm instead of 7:30 pm. The cultural function before the match will start at 6:30 pm. This will be followed by the toss at 7:30 and the match will start after 30 minutes. There has been no opening or closing ceremony in the IPL for the last three years. However, this time BCCI had also invited bids from reputed institutions to organize the closing ceremony of IPL 2022 through the tender process.
The league matches of IPL 2022 are scheduled to end on 22 May. This will be followed by playoff matches and Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. At present, the afternoon matches start at 03:30 while the evening matches start at 07:30. The BCCI stated that the BCCI’s preferred time for a double-header would be at 4 PM Indian Standard Time and 8 PM.
