The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited the presidents and secretaries of state units to the UAE for the second qualifiers and finals of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). BCCI secretary Jay Shah wrote to the officials that this is the right time to meet. However, it has not been given whether this meeting is to be held regarding any matter or the officials have been called just to watch the IPL.
Shah wrote in the letter, ‘See you in Sharjah for the second qualifier. After that in Dubai for the final. We have made a program for all of you and my team will ensure that you have a pleasant stay.’ The second phase of IPL is going on in UAE and playoff matches will start soon.
The first qualifier is to be played on October 10 and the final on October 15 in Dubai. Shah also said that with the rest of the IPL matches being held in the UAE, the players also got an opportunity to prepare for the T20 World Cup, which is to be played in Oman and the UAE from October 17. In the current season of IPL, Chennai Super Kings is at the top of the table with 8 wins in 10 matches.
The defending runners-up Delhi team is second with 8 wins in 11 matches and Bangalore team is at number three with 6 wins from 10 matches. At the same time, the record 5-time champion Mumbai Indians is at number six with 5 wins in 11 matches. At the same time, the team of Punjab is at number six with 7 defeats in 11 matches. Kolkata Knight Riders have also won 5 out of 11 matches but they are ahead of Mumbai on the basis of net run rate.
