Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, popularly known as the run machine, these two players are the pillars of Indian cricket who have handled Team India for the last decade. Kohli, who made a place in the Indian team after the Under-19 World Cup, made his mark from the beginning of his career, while the turning point of Rohit Sharma’s career came in 2013 when he got an opportunity to play as an opener. Both the players scored a lot of runs for Team India, after which discussion started about who is better.
This debate of Virat Kohli vs Rohit Sharma is not of today. With the advent of social media, fans keep supporting their favorite player by expressing their views online. Now BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has given his opinion on this matter.
Talking to senior journalist Vimal Kumar, the BCCI official said that such discussions among players are not new. From Kapil Dev and Gavaskar to Sachin Tendulkar and Sauvar Ganguly, such discussions used to happen but the board never thinks about it.
Dhumal said, ‘Look, we never think about it. This is the passion of the fans. When you are associated with a player with passion, then you talk like this. Social media is a platform where you can speak freely. When there was electrification and print press, this could not happen. Due to social media, such things are coming out more openly, due to which we are feeling it more. But it has always been this way, we used to hear about Gavaskar sahib and Kapil paaji sometimes about Saurav-Sachin. So it goes on. These things come to the fore more on social media.
