Team India took a 1-0 lead in the series by winning the first match played in Hyderabad and now they are on the verge of taking an unassailable lead by winning the match. In the first match, the host team gave a tough fight. While batting first, India scored a mammoth score of 349 for 8 on the basis of Shubman Gill’s double century. After losing 6 wickets for 131 runs, thanks to Michael Bracewell’s stormy century, New Zealand reached the match till the last over. The match was out of the hands of Team India but Shardul Thakur saved the shame by taking the last wicket.

The stigma on the Kiwi team for 34 years

New Zealand is still waiting for its first ODI series win on Indian soil. For the first time in the year 1988-89, the Kiwi team played in the ODI series on the tour of India. Since then, in 34 years, New Zealand reached with the intention of winning the series 6 times, but every time it had to face defeat.

For the first time, they won the 4-match series by 4-0, while after that they won the 5-match series by 3-2. In 1999 also the result was exactly the same. In 2010, the Kiwi team was cleaned 5-0. In 2016-17, the result was 3-2 while India won the previous series in the 3-match series with a 2-1 result in India’s favour.
