Chennai Super Kings opener Rituraj Gaikwad, playing brilliant innings one after the other in the UAE leg, made everyone crazy with his batting on Saturday. Rituraj scored the first century of his IPL career while batting fast. The special thing in the CSK batsman’s innings was that he faced 43 balls to make his first fifty, but the next fifty he hit in just 17 balls. This batsman, who plays domestic cricket for Maharashtra, has also made West Indies legend Brian Lara his admirer. Lara says that it is a lot of fun to see the way Rituraj scores runs by playing proper cricketing shots.
Talking on the show ‘Star Sports’, Lara said, ‘Yes, he would have scored 135 runs if he had more strike in the last overs. But, it was a complete show of Batmanship. What I like about him is how he keeps these innings together and how he bats with a bang in the second half. It’s a lot of fun seeing them. He showed that you can score big runs by playing good cricket shots. And that makes me proud as a batsman. It was amazing and unbelievable. I will put him in the category of KL Rahul.
Rituraj Gaikwad hit 9 fours and 5 lofty sixes in his innings and played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs in 60 balls. Thanks to the explosive innings of Rituraj, Chennai scored 189 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. But, due to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings of 50 runs in 21 balls and a stormy innings of 64 runs by Shivam Dubey, Rajasthan Royals achieved the target of 190 runs in just 17.3 overs. The CSK bowler looked completely ineffective in front of the Rajasthan batsmen.
