New Delhi. The head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, is going to get new partners soon. Vikram Rathor will be in the role of batting coach, T Dileep as fielding coach and Paras Mahambrey as bowling coach. Mahambre is currently the bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). According to a report, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) may reject the name of Abhay Sharma, Dravid’s choice for fielding coach. T Dileep has now overtaken Sharma in the race for fielding coach. The new coaching staff will take charge from the New Zealand series starting on November 17.
According to a report in InsideSport, a top BCCI official said, “Abhay has been with Rahul for a long time so there is always a comfort zone. But the CAC felt that he should stick with the NCA to take the work forward. Rahul suggested Abhay’s name but both are very capable. T Dileep was on the Sri Lanka tour as the fielding coach and has worked with the first team players and Abhay knows the young players.
Let us inform that former wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra had applied for the fielding coach of Team India. Ratra has played 99 first-class matches apart from 6 Tests and 12 ODIs. He is currently the head coach of Assam. In the IPL, he has worked with Delhi Capitals and has also been associated with the first Indian women’s team. Ratra has also worked in NCA. Although he lagged behind T Dileep and Abhay Sharma in the race.
Vikram Rathor will remain with Team India
Current batting coach Vikram Rathor can continue in his post. Rathore is the only one among the current support staff who wants to take up the position again. Head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar did not reapply. Rathor has scored 131 and 193 runs in six Tests and seven ODIs for India. He has scored 11473 runs in 146 first class matches.
