New Delhi. Chris Gayle of West Indies, one of the most successful players in the world in T20 format, is not running in form. Gayle has proved to be a flop in the T20 World Cup so far and has scored only 29 runs in 3 matches. He was dismissed for just 4 runs in the Super-12 stage match in Sharjah. He was made his victim and bowled by Bangladesh off-spinner Mehdi Hasan. His video has been shared by ICC on Instagram.
Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and invited the Windies team to bat at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Gayle went to the opening but got out after scoring just 4 runs. He wanted to hit a big shot on the second ball of the 5th over of Mehdi Hasan’s innings, but the ball went straight to the wickets. Gayle played 10 balls and no boundary came from his bat. Gayle returned to the pavilion as the second wicket on the team score of 18 runs.
Gayle’s bat has not run yet in the T20 World Cup. The former champion West Indies team has also lost its two consecutive matches and it has become difficult for it to reach the semi-finals. While Gayle had scored 13 runs against England, he could not do much against South Africa and was dismissed after scoring only 12 runs.
Chris Gayle has scored 1879 runs in T20 International career with the help of 2 centuries and 14 half-centuries. He plays in many leagues around the world and has a total of 14301 runs in 450 matches in T20 format. There are a lot of expectations from Gayle, although he has not yet lived up to the T20 World Cup. West Indies team became the champion of this tournament in 2016.
