Harmanpreet Singh’s hat-trick helped India reach the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games men’s hockey event on Thursday after beating Wales 4.1 in the last league match by finishing on top of Pool B. The Indian team, which defeated Ghana 11–0 in the first match and 8–0 to Canada in the third match, played a 4-4 draw with England.

World ranking fifth-ranked Manpreet Singh’s team topped Pool B with a goal average of plus 22 and will no longer face Australia in the semi-finals unless England beat Canada 15-0 in the last match.
Harmanpreet did amazing
Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist India started off aggressively in the last league match and Harmanpreet converted two penalty corners to give a 2-0 lead at half-time in the second quarter. Harmanpreet and Gurjant Singh scored a goal each in the last two quarters to take the lead 4-0. Jareth Furlong scored the only goal for Wales in the fourth quarter. The semi-final matches will be played on Saturday 6 August.
