KL Rahul ruled out of IPL due to thigh injury
Karun Nair did not find a buyer in the auction last time
New Delhi. IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants has got the replacement of captain KL Rahul. Rahul has been ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL 2023 due to injury. Rahul will also not be able to play in the World Test Championship final to be played against Australia next month. For the remaining matches of IPL, Lucknow Super Giants have included triple centurion Karun Nair in the team. Rahul has been ruled out of the tournament due to a thigh injury. He was injured while fielding during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Lucknow Super Giants issued a press release informing about the inclusion of Karun Nair in the team. The franchise said in a statement that Karun Nair has joined the team for the rest of the IPL matches in place of KL Rahul. Karun Nair did not find any buyer in the players auction held last year for IPL 2023. His base price was 50 lakhs. LSG has signed up for his base price only.
Karun Nair will play IPL for the sixth franchise
Karun Nair has been a part of 5 franchises in the IPL so far. He has played 76 matches in IPL, in which he has 1496 runs in his name. During this, Karun has scored 10 half-centuries. Nair was part of the Rajasthan Royals last season in the IPL. Nair is the second batsman after veteran opener Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Tests for India. In the year 2016, he got a lot of accolades by scoring a triple century in the Test.
KL Rahul will have thigh surgery
KL Rahul’s thigh surgery will be done soon. The Lucknow Super Giants franchise says that it will provide all possible help to its captain in difficult times. In the 43rd match of IPL, Rahul was injured while fielding in the second over in the match against RCB. He had to go out of the ground with the help of the support staff. In that match, Supergiants lost against RCB by 18 runs.
