Chennai lost to Gujarat in the first match
Dhoni’s team will play second match on 3rd April
New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings bowlers could not defend the score of 178 runs against Gujarat Titans. The initial 3 batters of Gujarat beat the bowlers of Chennai a lot. In the last over, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia kept Dhoni’s bowlers open. England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes did not bowl in the match due to not being fully fit. Stokes could not show any charisma even in batting and got out after scoring 7 runs. Chennai coach Stephen Fleming has clarified the situation regarding Ben Stokes before the next match.
Chennai Super Kings will play the next match against Lucknow Super Giants on the home ground on 3rd April. Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai in the mini auction for Rs 16.25 crore. According to coach Stephen Fleming, Ben Stokes is not yet fully fit to bowl. However, he is progressing well. He had a lot of time between the last Test match and the first match of the IPL. Despite this, he is not 100% ready to bowl.
Fleming said, we are working continuously with Ben. He will recover soon. When he starts bowling, it will give more advantage to the team.

‘Could have reached 190-200’
Chennai opener Rituraj Gaikwad gave a great start to the team in the match against Gujarat Titans. He scored 92 runs in 50 balls. However, the team’s middle order failed. Coach Stephen Fleming said while talking to the media, Rituraj Gaikwad played a brilliant role, but after that we were not able to capitalize on the opportunities. Gujarat bowled well between overs 12-16 and we didn’t get the great finishing that was needed. 180 is a good score, but we could have reached 190-200.
