Many young players have debuted in IPL 2023
One of these players has played an inning of 578 runs.
New Delhi. Many young players are making a splash in IPL 2023. One of these is Nehal Wadhera, the left-handed batsman of Mumbai Indians. He scored stormy half-centuries in the last two matches of Mumbai Indians. In one the team won and in the other lost. But, Nehal has shown with these two innings that he is capable and that he is a long race horse.
The story of 22-year-old Nehal Wadhera becoming a cricketer is quite interesting. More than father, grandfather had the passion to make Nehal a cricketer. For this reason, he did not miss any match of Nehal for the last 15 years. Not only this, in these years Nehal’s grandfather Meghraj Wadhera has noted the accounts of his every innings in the diary. How did he get out, how did he bat in which match? What is his weakness, everything is noted in Dada’s diary.
Nehal’s father Kamal Wadhera told Indian Express, “It has become a part of my father’s life. He is Nehal’s biggest cheerleader. He notes every information related to his batting in the diary. His body language, his shots, how did he get out? Everything. They are not experts. But, he is a fan of Nehal and in the evening both of them sit and talk about it.
Nehal scored a lot of runs in age group cricket
Nehal has scored a lot of runs in age group cricket. He made his first class debut for Punjab this year. Earlier, Nehal has played for Punjab’s Under-16, Under-19 team. He scored 540 runs in the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2017-18 with the help of 6 half-centuries. Due to this performance, he was selected among the probables of the team that won the Under-19 World Cup under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw. However, he could not secure a place in the team and this failure gave a big blow to Nehal. In July 2018, he was selected in the Indian Under-19 team that toured Sri Lanka. He scored two half-centuries on that tour, including a brilliant 82 on his Youth Test debut against Sri Lanka.
Despite this performance, Nehal had to wait for his first class debut. Because there was no vacancy in the top order of the Punjab team. Nehal decided to play down the order and made his first class debut in early 2023. Nehal had hit 123 runs in his debut innings against Gujarat.
