New Delhi. Australia won the title of T20 World Cup (AUS vs NZ T20 World Cup final) for the first time by defeating New Zealand by 8 wickets. The role of opener David Warner was important in making the team the champion. He played a match winning innings of 53 runs in the final. Warner scored runs in important matches for Australia throughout the tournament. Due to this performance, he was named Player of the Tournament. After this, the fans and Warner’s wife Candice took a dig at Sunrisers Hyderabad, who dropped them from the playing-11 in the second phase of IPL 2021. However, then its real reason was not disclosed. But now the Hyderabad team’s assistant coach Brad Haddin has made a shocking disclosure about Warner’s exclusion from the team.
Speaking to The Grade Cricketer, Haddin revealed that Warner was not dropped from the playing XI by Sunrisers Hyderabad due to poor form. Haddin also said that the coaching staff was not in favor of Warner’s removal. The reason for Warner’s exclusion from the playing XI was different from ‘cricket’. Haddin did not say anything directly. But it did indicate that the decision to remove Warner may have been taken by the SRH owners.
Warner was not dropped because of form: Haddin
Haddin continued, “I think one thing you realized with Davy (Warner) was that he was not out of form, just that he did not practice match. He was on a long break due to Kovid-19. He didn’t even go to West Indies or Bangladesh. But the ball was coming well on his bat and the situation was beyond our control, even the coaching staff could not do anything on this issue. It was not because he was not in form, he just needed a few matches to regain his momentum. As we saw in the T20 World Cup, Warner batted well after a few matches.
Warner was stripped of the SRH captaincy
Sunrisers Hyderabad removed Warner from the captaincy in the first phase of IPL 2021. The change in leadership came at a time when Sunrisers were at the bottom of the IPL 2021 points table and won only 1 match out of 6 matches.
Warner will no longer play for Hyderabad
Before the start of the T20 World Cup, Warner spoke openly about Sunrisers Hyderabad’s exclusion from the playing XI. Then he said that I had not played cricket before IPL. Through the league, I had a chance to get into the rhythm. I also played two matches. But young players should also have got a chance. So it’s fine from my point of view. However, Warner is no longer keen to play for Hyderabad. He has said this thing through social media. Looking at his performance in the World Cup, he may get a big bid at the mega auction to be held next year.
Warner is the highest run-scorer in IPL. Under his captaincy, Hyderabad won the IPL title in 2016.
