David Warner created history during the match played on Thursday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He has done that in the history of IPL, which no batsman has been able to do before him. Delhi Capitals washed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by five wickets on Thursday and during this Warner played an important innings of 42 runs. Warner crossed the 1000-run mark against KKR during this innings. Apart from KKR, he has also crossed the 1000-run mark against Punjab Kings.
No batsman before him in the history of IPL has crossed the 1000-run mark against two different franchise teams. Apart from Warner, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are the only two batsmen who have crossed the 1000-run mark against a franchise team each. Rohit has achieved this feat against KKR and Shikhar Dhawan against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Virat Kohli has not yet touched the 1000 runs mark against any one team.
Warner scored 42 runs in 26 balls with the help of eight fours and gave a strong start to Delhi Capitals. During this match, Prithvi Shaw became the victim of Umesh Yadav on the very first ball during the innings of Delhi Capitals, Warner then took over the innings of Delhi Capitals along with Mitchell Marsh and Lalit Yadav. Delhi Capitals had got a target of 147 runs, which the team achieved in the 19th over itself.
