New Delhi. Indian team’s wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik made his debut just a month before former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni). Karthik did not get 10 percent fame as compared to the heights that Dhoni touched in his career. There is a gap of just one month between the international debuts of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik. Dhoni took entry in the Indian team in December 2004 while Karthik became a part of Team India in November this year. On many occasions, Karthik has kept his side on this. Recently, once again Karthik’s pain came to the fore.
During a conversation with RCB’s podcast, Dinesh Karthik said, “Dhoni and I started our career together for India A. I was selected in the first team. This Dhoni’s India A tour was very spectacular. Then there was Dhoni Mania. I don’t regret it. He took advantage of every opportunity. He became the number-1 wicketkeeper with his performance and then became a hero for the public.
When Dhoni made his debut for Team India, after that he never looked back. At the same time, Karthik kept getting in and out of the team on many occasions. In the year 2019, Dinesh Karthik and Mahendra Singh Dhoni played their last ODI together. He was last seen in international cricket in the semi-final match against New Zealand. Dhoni took retirement after this. At the same time, Karthik was seen playing in the T20 World Cup 2022 while returning.
Even before this, many times Karthik has given statements about Dhoni. During an interview, Karthik had said that when the IPL started in the year 2008, he felt that Chennai Super Kings would choose Karthik as the captain. At that time Karthik was doing well in Team India. She is originally from Tamil Nadu but the franchise made Mahendra Singh Dhoni the captain and did not choose Karthik.
