IPL 2022: Desperate to make a comeback after losing four consecutive matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to overcome their bowling problems in Saturday’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to keep their hopes alive in IPL 2022.
‘Do or Die’ like situation for Sunrisers Hyderabad
After winning 5 matches in a row, 4 losses in a row have dealt a blow to Sunrisers’ hopes of reaching the IPL playoffs. They have 10 points from 11 matches and will need to win the remaining three matches to keep their chances of making the playoffs alive.
KKR’s condition is also critical
KKR have 10 points from 12 matches and are on the verge of being eliminated. The Shreyas Iyer-led side have only two matches left and a win will only take them to 14 points which may not be enough to reach the playoffs as Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have 14 points from 12 matches. Remains in the top four.
The opposition team scored more than 190 runs in the last four matches against Sunrisers
The main reason for Sunrisers’ loss in the previous matches is the injury of their main bowlers Washington Sundar and T Natarajan and the inability of fast bowler Umran Malik to perform well. This can be gauged from the fact that the opposition team scored more than 190 runs in the last four matches against Sunrisers. In the last match against RCB, Sunrisers tried Fazlhaq Farooqui and Karthik Tyagi but they too could not work, which added to the problems of the team.
Kane Williamson has to shoulder more responsibility
Sunrisers have good batsmen in the batting department, but captain Kane Williamson will have to shoulder more responsibility. He has been able to score only one fifty so far. Abhishek Sharma has given the team a good start, but this young batsman is not able to handle the innings. Rahul Tripathi, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram are also scoring runs, but Sunrisers batsmen need support from the bowlers.
