New Delhi. There is a little more than 3 months left for the start of the ICC World Cup-2023 to be hosted by India in October-November, but the schedule of the tournament has not been finalized yet. According to media reports, a major reason for the delay in the schedule has come to the fore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still not ready to play the World Cup league match against India (India vs Pakistan) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and this is believed to be the main reason for the delay in the announcement of the World Cup schedule. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has slammed the PCB for its attitude in the matter.

According to the information, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already shared the draft schedule of the tournament with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the apex body of cricket, which has been sent to all the concerned cricket boards for feedback. According to this draft schedule, the tournament will start on October 5 and there will be a clash between India and Pakistan on October 15. This match is proposed in Ahmedabad, but PCB is not ready to play against India in Ahmedabad.

According to media reports, ICC officials had recently visited Pakistan. PCB’s Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi has told them that Pakistan does not want any of its matches to be held in Ahmedabad unless it is a knockout match. The meaning is clear, Pakistan team is not keen to play its league match in Ahmedabad.

Shahid Afridi has lashed out at PCB in this matter. According to the report of cricketpakistan.com, while talking to a local news channel, Afridi said, ‘Why are they refusing to play in Ahmedabad? Does it spew fire or is it afflicted by evil spirits? ‘Boom-Boom Afridi’ said – go, play and win. If there are any predetermined challenges then the only way to overcome them is to win. At the end of the day, all that matters is that the Pakistan team won. Take it in a positive way. If they (India) are comfortable playing then you should go, win in front of packed stadiums in front of an Indian crowd and tell them what you have achieved.
