Ben Stokes: Former England captain Eoin Morgan called Test captain Ben Stokes a good leader and lamented that the all-rounder is retiring from ODI cricket at the age of 31. Stokes announced his retirement from ODI cricket on the eve of England’s first ODI against South Africa at his home ground in Durham.
Stokes is the best player
Stokes will remember his contribution on the field and in the changing room. He is a good player, who also took care of the people. Also used to assure that nothing is impossible. Morgan, who captained England to the 2019 World Cup win, said, “It was a great pleasure to be on the field with him for so long and it is incredibly sad to retire from this form at the age of 31.”
Stokes’ career was excellent
Stokes scored 2,924 runs in 105 ODIs, including three centuries and took 74 wickets. He will be largely remembered for his player-of-the-match performance in the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final against New Zealand at Lord’s, where he scored an unbeaten 84 to take the match into the Super Over.
Stokes’ teammate fast bowler Mark Wood expressed grief over not getting a chance to play with him in ODI cricket. In addition to his England teammates, Stokes and Wood are home teammates at Durham. He won the World Cup in 2019 and it is hard to forget. He did a lot for the team.
