New Delhi, Hyderabad ODI has come into controversy due to poor umpiring. The fans are quite disappointed seeing the way the Indian team’s vice-captain Hardik Pandya Wicket Controversy has been given out. The special thing is that after a few balls in this match, a similar incident happened with Shubman Gill as well as Hardik Pandya, but this time the umpire supported the batter. This decision was not of any on-field umpire but of the third umpire. It is clear from the TV footage that there was a lot of distance between the ball and the wicket. In such a situation, on what basis Hardik was given out is beyond understanding.
Third umpire KN Ananth Padmanabhan is being heavily criticized on social media. On the first ball of the 40th over, Hardik was dismissed by Mitchell Santner. The ball went into the gloves of wicketkeeper Tom Latham very close to the bat. Santner was sure of getting the wicket. Hardik knew that he was not out and his body language was also showing the same.
When the third umpire first checked with the sneico-meter, it was found that there was no contact between the ball and the bat. After this it was the turn to check the contact between the ball and the stump. TV footage showed that the ball was away from the wicket. The balls were scattered after the ball went behind the gloves of the wicketkeeper. The wicketkeeper’s gloves scattered the stumps but still Hardik was declared out.
