T20 league’s craze increased after IPL

New Delhi. The Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA) has said in its annual report that a big change is taking place in cricket. Apart from India, a large number of international cricketers are leaving central contracts and becoming freelance agents to play in T20 leagues around the world. Indian players do not come under the purview of FICA, hence Indian cricketers are not included in this survey. According to a new FICA report, 40 per cent players may consider giving up their contracts if they get more money for playing in the domestic league. At the same time, 42 percent players want to play in at least one foreign T20 league along with international and domestic tournaments. That is, 82 percent of the players do not want to be in just one contract. 400 players from 11 countries participated in the survey.

It has been discussed for a long time that 50-over cricket is fast losing its interest. The survey suggested that there has been a decline in the percentage of cricketers who still feel that the ODI World Cup is the most important ICC tournament. As per the report, 54 per cent still feel that the 50-over World Cup is the ICC’s premier competition. However, this percentage has come down significantly, which stood at 86 per cent as per the 2018-19 FICA survey.

485 international matches played
According to the report, the teams in the top 9 in the ICC rankings played an average of 81.5 days of international cricket in 2021, while the average for the teams ranked 10th to 20th was 21.5 days. In the year 2021, 485 international matches were played, which is 195 more than the 290 matches held in 2020 between Kovid-19. These include 346 T20s, 46 Tests and 93 ODIs. However, this figure is less than the 522 matches held worldwide in 2019.

In 2021, Mohammad Rizwan played the maximum number of days in international cricket by playing 80 calendar days. Rishabh Pant topped the list among Indian cricketers with 75 days. Joe Root played international cricket for 78 days in 2021. It is known that New Zealand’s Trent Boult, Martin Guptill have left the central contract. At the same time, Ben Stokes of England has retired from ODIs. At the same time, Quinton Dickock of South Africa has retired from Test cricket at the age of 29. After the start of IPL in 2008, the league has started all over the world. Players are also getting a huge amount from here. New T20 league is going to start in South Africa from next year.
