Some videos of the incident have also surfaced, in which people can be seen jumping out of the hotel windows to escape the fire.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said, the hotel has about 23 rooms in all four floors. The smoke spread through the stairs rising upwards. Some people who were sleeping on the first and second floors came towards the corridor due to the thick smoke and died due to suffocation. The people injured in the incident have been admitted to various hospitals in the city for treatment and the fire has been brought under control.
Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner Chandana Deepti said electric scooters were parked where the fire broke out. We do not know whether the fire started and spread due to overcharging or it started from some other place. Presently this matter is being investigated. Officials said the water sprinkler system in the building was not working when the fire broke out. This is also being investigated now.

Condoling the loss of lives in the incident, Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali said an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. He said that the fire brigade teams tried their best to evacuate the people, but some people died due to smoke. We are probing how the incident happened. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the family members of those killed in the accident and Rs 50,000 each for the injured. The state government has also announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each for the families of the victims.
