Five wicket haul for Navdeep Saini on his county debut for Kent against Warwickshire


Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini has forced the English batsmen to kneel with his bowling in his first county match itself. Navdeep Saini, playing his debut match for the English county team Kent, has made a great start to his county career by taking 5 wickets in the match being played against Warwickshire. Navdeep will play eight matches for Kent in the current season. Saini will be India’s second Test cricketer after Rahul Dravid to play for this county.

Navdeep Saini took three wickets on the first day of the match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston and then on the second day he took two wickets to complete the five-wicket haul. Navdeep Saini took the first wicket of his county career by getting Chris Benjamin caught out. Saini then completed his five-wicket haul by taking the wickets of Dan Museley, Michael Burgess, Henry Brookes and Craig Miles. Saini took 5 wickets for 68 runs in 16 overs in this first innings. Interestingly, Saini bowled the maximum number of no-balls in this innings. He made 14 no-balls. Apart from him, none of the bowlers bowled a no-ball.

In another match, India’s spinner Washington Sundar also took 5 wickets. Playing for Lancashire in his debut match against Northamptonshire, he took 5 for 76 in 22 overs. Navdeep has played two Tests, eight ODIs and 11 T20 Internationals for India so far. He also took 148 wickets in 91 innings of 53 first-class matches at an average of 28.81, including four five-wicket hauls.
