But for me, one of the 2 special moments of my career happened after the 2007 T20 World Cup victory. We had returned to Mumbai. I remember it was raining that day. Our flight was about to land. I thought it was good that it was raining and there would be no people at the airport. We will catch another flight and reach home soon. Because we were away from home for a long time. But something else happened. As soon as you left the airport. An open double decker bus was ready for us. We were going from the airport to the Wankhede Stadium. People were standing all around the way. Where Nanjar was going. Only people were visible there. There was a smile on every person’s face. It is possible that people may have missed their flight that day. Have not reached office. But there was immense happiness on his face. This moment was very special for me.
‘The spectators were singing Vande Mataram in the World Cup final’
Dhoni further said, “The second special moment of my career was during the final of the 2011 World Cup. Me and Yuvraj Singh were batting. We needed 15-20 runs to win. That’s why 30-40 thousand people sitting in Wankhede stadium started singing Vande Mataram in unison. That voice also echoes in my ears. I have not forgotten that moment till date. I don’t think I will ever witness a moment like this again.”
