Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, will step down as the coach after the T20 World Cup as his tenure ends. After the T20 World Cup, all eyes will be on the next head coach of the Indian team. The names of many including Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman are being discussed in this race. But there is no official announcement yet. Meanwhile, former India chief selector MSK Prasad has expressed his choice regarding the next head coach of Team India. Prasad has told who he would like to see as the next head coach of Team India. Former wicket-keeper batsman Prasad believes that Rahul Dravid should replace Shastri.

Dravid was the coach of India’s limited overs team on the tour of Sri Lanka in July. At the same time, former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed as the mentor of the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Prasad told The Times of India, ‘I would definitely feel that Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni should join the team going forward. Rahul as a coach and Dhoni as a mentor. It will be great to see Dhoni and Rahul after Ravi Shastri’s stint in the Indian team.
Dravid has been the coach of India’s Under-19 and A teams. He was involved in several successful tours with the A team, leading the Under-19 team to a World Cup win in 2018. So when the Indian Test team was in England and the limited overs team was selected to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Sri Lanka, it was decided to appoint Dravid as their coach. Dravid was appointed as the director of the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy in 2019 and is expected to continue in that role.
